NTLDR is Missing

Got this on a machine the other day. Have not seen it for sometime. I ran the usual chkdsk /r on the drive and that did not fix it. Backed up the drive and was going to do a Windows repair (Windows XP Home PC) but did not give me the option to repair from XP OEM CD (The second repair that actually copies Windows files back on, not the first repair that gets me to a DOS prompt). So I remembered that all I did last time was copy the NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM from the XP install X:\i386 file. Both files were missing from the root of C:. After that everything booted. So in a nut shell is when you get this error on boot. Boot from your XP Install disk. Press R to get to the login prompt. Check if the NTDLR and NTDETECT.COM are on the root of C: and copy the 2 files from the CD’s i386 folder to the root of C:.
