Repair Windows Updates After Removing Fake Anti-Virus in XP

After removing a fake Anti-virus the XP PC would not do any Window’s Updates. Found this on the web:

Open C:\Windows

Show hidden files and folders

Open C:\Windows\inf

Right click au and select install (extension hidden by default, should be only file named au)

Fix MBR For Windows 7

When I had to fix the MBR for XP I used MS command FIXMBR.EXE. Well Vista and Windows 7 have changed to BOOTREC.EXE Here is an article from MS that describes how to use bootrec.exe

The main commands to run at the dos prompt are
